June 23-26, 2007

June 23rd... When I arrived you were up in the chair but very sleepy. Your eyes were very red and irritated and Elsie your nurse said you were very sleepy and somewhat lethargic. Sometimes after going through the episodes of storming and high fevers it wipes you out and you need time to recover. However two days of sleeping is a little too much and there was some legitimate concern. I was very worried about you, I took you outside for a while but you did not respond. When they put you in bed you did not wake up, respiratory came in to give you a breathing treatment because you have been some what congested.

June 24th..., I decided to come early to see for myself how you were. I prayed you would be more alert and responsive. When I arrived you were still in bed and your eyes were closed and you looked extremely relaxed. I thought you were sleeping but Elsie was so happy because you were responding to her. She called out your name and you opened your eyes immediately and then smiled. I was so thrilled to be able to see your eyes open and your smile said it all. We had a great afternoon, spent time outside and you were alert enough to eat some pears. It was truly a blessed day!

June 25th... You were very calm but alert. Today Andrea will come and spend time with you. She bought some things to work with you and is looking forward to the time she will be working with you. I can’t come to see you to day because of work and month end.

Andrea called to let me know you were doing well and you were alert. You seemed to enjoy your time with her and she said you remembered her. She is not one you will easily forget, she has a tremendous impact on people, always positive, compassionate and very patient.

June 26th... I arrived at 1:45 and Andrea was in the dayroom with you. It was great seeing her and we spent time with you. She got to feed you so she can give you a snack when she comes and I showed her some other things she can do for you when she is with you. It was a great afternoon, you were very alert and smiled all the time.

I had a meeting with Dr. McCagg and we decided to decrease the morphine and you will be going for several tests. Dr. Medina wants you to have a MRCP of the abdomen and a cat scan of your head. Maybe we can find a cause as to why you have these episodes of brain storming and fevers.
